Kremlin: Each side of gas union to sell own energy at profit

MOSCOW, Dec 8 (PRIME) -- Each side of a gas union between Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will continue to sell its resources at a profit, spokesman for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

"Each side, obviously, sells and will continue to sell its energy to the clients based solely on the commercial terms," Peskov said, when asked to comment on Reuters a report about Uzbekistan's refusal to call the agreement a union.

At the end of November, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed a gas union with participation of Uzbekistan.

Peskov said no country sets political conditions in the union.

"No one is speaking about gas in exchange for political conditions, there is no such thing in the idea of establishing the union," Peskov said.

He added that negotiations to establish the union continue.
